Hope your coffee is ready, cause we’re spilling some good tea here!

Today I want to talk about:

  1. Your Reputation – Is it Good? I don’t mean you, personally, but your email sending domains.
  2. Roe v Wade & What we think
  3. Wimbledon Changes Forever
  4. Are you Ready for Back-to-School Promotions?

Is Your Email Domain Reputation Good?

If you’ve seen your email open rates drop, don’t blame it all on Apple. On the contrary, they might be responsible for higher open rate reports, if anything.

But there’s a bigger problem at play here. And no, it’s not just your content!

Did you know that 21% of legitimate marketing emails don’t make it to the inbox? And if your sending reputation is on the down low, I’m afraid less than 1% of your emails are getting delivered to the inbox.

Marketers (especially email services) talk about “delivered” numbers, but that’s a misleading metric, because all it tells you is what percentage of your emails that you sent were delivered to the ESPs.

How the ESPs handle your emails, like where does Google think your emails belong is a methodical process, and you start by checking your domain reputation: Signing up for tools like Google Postmaster and SenderScore.org will help track your reputation before you can do something to improve it.

In our business, these tools are an absolute must since we’re very serious about email deliverability and performance, and not just :delivery.

If you think your emails might be landing in spam due to bad domain reputation, you can read this amazing piece on Postmark

Want to figure out a quick fix?

I knew you would, so we compiled a list of thousands of domains that are known as hosts of disposable email addresses.  If your list subscribers are from these domains, you better segment them and try removing them altogether.

Roe v Wade & The Big Debate

If you haven’t been living under a rock, you already know about the absolute shitshow that the SCOTUS has showered upon us

A quick refresher, in case you forgot:

They officially overturned the historic judgement from 1973 in the case of Roe V Wade, that paved the way for legalized abortions across the country.  In effect, the court  has taken away the constitutional right of every woman for legal access to abortion.

What Disney Did:

Disney sent out an internal memo to their staff, announcing that they’re going to cover expenses related to pregnancy related care – irrespective of the location.

Essentially, in lieu of the Supreme Court’s decision, Disney will cover travel and medical expenses for their employees if they have to seek pregnancy related care including an abortion in a different state.

What we can do:

I’ve personally been a supporter of Planned Parenthood for many years. Their mission is ‘to ensure all people have access to the care and resources they need to make informed decisions about their bodies, their lives, and their futures.’

Following the SCOTUS ruling, we’re doubling down on our efforts in supporting the mission of Planned Parenthood.

Why is this important?

This, in our mind, is not just a debate about being pro-life or pro-choice.

The decision takes away a woman’s autonomy over her own choice and forces her to live with a rule that is not just anarchic, but detrimental to progress in any civilized society.

If you feel you should do something to help spread awareness, here’s a list of non-profit charities that I encourage you to consider:

Wimbledon Wonders

The word on the court is that Wimbledon has lost one of its biggest sponsors – the English fruit drinks company, Robinsons.

A partnership of over 80 years, Robinsons had been sponsoring Wimbledon since 1935 and is considered one of the longest partnerships in the history of tennis.

Why?

Well, Robinsons said that it wanted to broaden its summertime reach beyond the Wimbledon fortnight, but it is tremendously proud of the partnership it shared. The All England Lawn Tennis Club also said that the partnership was terminated on mutual agreement.

Additionally, in May this year, Robinsons became the official soft drinks partner of the Hundred, which is a 100-ball cricket tournament in England and Wales.

So, if you’re a fan of English cricket, or Wimbledon, I’d watch this space closely to see how marketing on court changes with new brands and drinks sponsors taking over.

Do you think it will be one of these new age brands with cool bottles and vitamins preloaded?

Let me know in the comments!

Are You Back-To-School Ready?
